The Swiss Railways Station Clock was originally developed in 1944 for the Swiss Federal Railways. The influence of Bauhaus design with its focus on rationality, reduction, and integration between art and industry is unmistakable. The Bauhaus movement was defined by everyday objects that were elevated through clarity of purpose and material honesty. The Swiss Railways Station Clock marked a significant shift away from the elaborate clock faces of the Art Nouveau era to a minimalist approach of a white background, hour and minute markers represented by simple black rectangles, geometric hands, and finally, a prominent red second hand with a red disc.
